An dàrna turas: Latha na bainnse

Take two: The wedding day

Let’s have a look at this conversation again.

Ciamar a chaidh dhut aig na cuirmean: an ceumnachadh, am baisteadh agus a’ bhanais? How did you get on at the celebrations: the graduation, the baptism/christening and the wedding?
Chaidh math dha–rìribh! ‘S i a’ bhanais an latha a bu motha a bh’ ann. Bha Mìcheal, fear na bainnse, deiseil le liosta–aoighean agus fiathachaidhean bliadhna ron cheann–latha. I got on great! It’s the wedding that was the biggest day. Michael, the groom, was ready with a guest list and invitations a year before the date.
Tha mi a’ cluinntinn gun robh tòrr bhainnsean a’ tachairt as t–samhradh ri linn a’ bhìorais thar an dà bhliadhna a chaidh seachad. I am hearing that many weddings were happening this summer because of the virus over the last two years.
Chuala mise sin cuideachd. Thug sin pailteas ùine dhomh aodach na bainnse fhaighinn. Fhuair mi lèine is seacaid ùr a thig leis an fhèileadh agam. I heard that too. It gave me plenty of time to get a wedding outfit. I got a new shirt and jacket to go with my kilt.
Cò ris a bha fear na bainnse agus am fleasgach coltach? What did the groom and the best man look like?
Bha fear na bainnse riochdail, le fèileadh air. Bha am fleasgach eireachdail san fhèileadh aigesan—agus cha do chaill e na fàinneachan–pòsta nas motha! The groom was handsome, with his kilt on. The best man was handsome in his kilt—and he didn’t lose the wedding rings either!
Agus cò ris a bha bean na bainnse coltach?  And what did the bride look like?
Bha bean na bainnse brèagha, le brèid–bainnse agus dreasa–bhainnse a bha cho geal ris a’ chanach. Bha a’ mhaighdeann–phòsaidh bòidheach ann an dreasa fhada liath. The bride was beautiful, with a veil and wedding dress as white as bog–cotton. The bridesmaid was pretty as well in a long pale blue/grey dress.
Seadh. Uh–huh.
Nuair a thug iad seachad na bòidean bainnse thàinig deur nam shùil. When they exchanged their wedding vows, I had a tear in my eye.
Och Fhionnlaigh! Tha thu cho bog ris an ìm! Dè eile a thachair?  Och, Finlay. You’re as soft as butter! What else happened?
Bha cuirm–bhainnse air leth aca. Bha an t–àite loma–làn le aoighean, bha am biadh fìor bhlasta agus bha an ceòl iongantach. Dh’fhalbh Mìcheal is Donna tràth san fheasgar airson mìos nam pòg aca, ach chùm sinn oirnn a’ dannsadh! Their wedding reception was exceptional. The place was full of guests, the food was delicious and the music wonderful. Michael and Donna left in the early evening for their honeymoon, but we kept on dancing!
