An dàrna turas: Mealaibh ur naidheachd!

Take two: Congratulations!

Let’s have a look at this conversation again.

Sin thu fhèin, Fhionnlaigh! Tha mi cho toilichte an naidheachd sin a chluinntinn. Tha e doirbh a bhith ag obair agus ag ionnsachadh aig an aon àm. Well done, Finlay! I’m so pleased to hear that news. It’s difficult to be working and learning at the same time.
Tapadh leat, Anna. ‘S e faochadh a th’ ann gu bheil na deuchainnean seachad. Dùnaidh mi na leabhraichean siud gu bràth! Thank you, Anna. It’s a relief that the exams are over. I’ll close those books for ever!
Cuin a bhios an ceumnachadh agad ann? When is your graduation?
Bidh e ann air an dàrna latha fichead dhen Iuchar, an latha an dèidh a’ bhaistidh aig nighean mo bhràthar. It’s on the 22 July (the twenty–second of July), the day after my niece’s [my brother’s daughter’s] christening.
Tha sin snog. Bidh thu trang a’ deasachadh airson an dà chuirm. That’s nice. You’ll be busy preparing for (the) two celebrations/occasions.
Bidh, agus fhuair mi cuireadh gu banais mo cho–ogha air an t–seachdain an dèidh sin! Tha e air a bhith fo ghealladh–pòsaidh airson dà bhliadhna, ach leis a’ bhìoras tha dàil air a bhith ann. Dè tha dol agad fhèin? I will, and I got an invitation to my cousin’s wedding on the week after that! He’s been engaged for two years, but with the virus, there’s been a delay. What’s doing with yourself?
Uill, bidh mise nam bhean an taighe aig cuirm–chiùil ann an talla a’ bhaile an–ath–sheachdain. Well, I will be bean an taighe (host/MC) at a music concert in the village hall next week.
Am bi iad tric a’ cumail chèilidhean no cuirmean–ciùil traidiseanta aig deireadh a’ Chèitein? Do they often have ceilidhs or traditional music concerts at the end of May?
Cha bhi, ach tha iad a’ comharrachadh co–là–breith an talla—bidh e ceud bliadhna air a’ mhìos seo. They don’t, but they’re celebrating/marking the birthday of the hall—it will be a hundred years old this month.
Tha mi ‘n dòchas gum bi oidhche mhath agaibh, ma–thà. Dè eile a tha dol agad? I hope you have a good night, then. What else is happening with you [doing with you]?
Bidh mi fhèin agus an duine agam a’ comharrachadh deich bliadhna pòsta air an aon oidhche! Bidh mi fhèin agus an duine agam a’ comharrachadh deich bliadhna pòsta air an aon oidhche!
Tha e coltach gum bi sinn trang le cuirmean is cèilidhean fad an t–samhraidh, gun ghuth air fèilltean is fèisean. It looks as if we’ll both be busy with celebrations and ceilidhs all summer, not to mention [without a mention of] feasts and festivals.
Sinne a bhitheas! Tha mi a’ smaoineachadh gu bheil an dithis againn airidh air deoch an dorais. ‘S math a rinn thu! Meal do naidheachd, Fhionnlaigh! We certainly will. I think that we’re both [the two of us] deserve ‘one for the road’. Well done! Congratulations, Finlay!
Mealaibh ur naidheachd, Anna! Congratulations [to you both], Anna!
