There were a few words and phrases there which you can use when talking about Eachdraidh na Galltachd (The history of the Lowlands).

It’s said that Gaelic was spoken …

… throughout the country at one time.

Tha an fhianais air feadh Alba …

The evidence is all over Scotland …

… ‘s e sin na h–ainmean–àite a tha mun cuairt oirnn

… that is the placenames which are around us

… gur e mòr–chànan a bhiodh anns a’ Ghàidhlig aig an àm sin?

… that Gaelic was a majority language at that time?

… ach aig a’ cheart àm …

… but at the same time …

… ‘s e dùthaich ioma–chànanach a bh’ ann an Alba

… Scotland was a multilingual country [it’s a multilingual country that Scotland was].

All these events had an impact on Gaelic throughout Scotland …

… agus air a’ Ghàidhlig anns na h–àiteachan ris an can sinn a’ Ghalltachd.

… and on Gaelic in these paces in what we call the Lowlands.
