Dè tha ceàrr ort?

What's wrong with you?

Let’s have a look at this discussion. By the end of this section, you will have learned some valuable phrases that you can use in lots of different conversations.

Dè tha ceàrr ort? What’s wrong with you?
Chan eil càil ceàrr orm a–nise, ach bha an dèideadh orm. There’s nothing wrong with me now, but I had (the) toothache.
Bhiodh sin goirt, cuiridh mi geall. That would be sore, I’ll bet.
Bha, agus nuair a bha mi aig an fhiaclair, thàinig an cadal–deilgneach orm! It was, and when I was at the dentist, I got pins and needles [the pins and needles came on me]!
Obh! Obh! A bhròinein! O dear! Poor soul!
Och tha mi ceart gu leòr. Chan eil pian orm a–nis! Agus dè mu do dheidhinn–sa? Dè bha ceàrr ort an t–seachdain sa chaidh? Och I’m fine. I don’t have pain now! And what about you? What was wrong with you last week?
Bha an cnatan orm. Agus bha mo cheann goirt. Agus bha sruth às mo shùilean. I had a/the cold. And I had a sore head/headache. And my eyes were streaming.
Tha sin truagh! That’s miserable!
Bha mi a’ casadaich fad an latha agus fad na h–oidhche. Bha mi a’ faireachdainn cho tinn ‘s gun robh mi a’ cur a–mach! I was coughing all day and all night. I felt so ill that I was vomiting!
A bhrònag! Tha sin uabhasach! A bheil thu cinnteach nach e an galar (Coròna–bhìoras) a bh’ ann? Tha tinneasan is bhìorasan neònach a’ dol mun cuairt. Poor soul! That’s terrible! Are you sure that it wasn’t the disease (Coronavirus)? There are (all sorts of) strange illnesses and viruses going around.
Chan eil fhios ’am. Ach tha mi ceart gu leòr a–nis agus chan eil an casad cho dona. Bidh mi a’ gabhail tòrr bheothaman C is D! I don’t know. But I am fine now and the cough isn’t too/so bad. I’m taking lots of Vitamin C and D!
