Watch this clip where Joy gives us some of her favourite useful phrases.

This time it's: useful phrases when you're learning Gaelic .

JOY

Ionnsaich sinn an t-uabhas anns a' chiad phrògram den t-sreath ùr seo. Nach toir sinn sùil aithghearr air cuid dheth.

If you're unsure and want to ask how to say something, it's:

Ciamar / a chanas mi ...? Ciamar a chanas mi ...?

To ask someone to repeat what they just said, you can say:

An can sibh sin / a‑rithist? An can sibh sin a‑rithist?

And to say we're learning Gaelic, we use the phrase:

ag ionnsachadh / na Gàidhlig, ag ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig.

We also looked at how to compare levels of difficulty by saying:

nas fhasa dhomh, easier for me, nas fhasa dhomh

agus

nas dorra dhomh, harder for me, nas dorra dhomh.
