A' chiad, an dàrna agus an treas

The first, the second and the third

When making plans further ahead and when referring to dates, we use àireamhan òrdail (ordinal numbers). In most cases we add an ‑mh ending to the written number, similar to the ‘‑th‘ ending used in English. We can also write these out in full, for example an còigeamh latha dhen ath‑mhìos (the fifth day of next month).
