An dàrna turas: Chan eil cothromachd ann!

An dàrna turas: There's no fairness!

Let’s have a look at this conversation again.

Bha mi ag èisteachd ri Radio nan Gàidheal agus bha agam ris an rèidio a chur dheth. I was listening to Radio nan Gàidheal and I had to turn the radio off.
Carson a bha agad ris an rèidio a chur dheth? Why did you have to turn the radio off?
Bha na naidheachdan a’ cur dragh orm. The news bothered me.
Tha mi a’ tuigsinn. Tha an telebhisean nas miosa buileach. Ach chan urrainn dhuinn ar cùl a chur ris na tha tachairt san t–saoghal, an urrainn? I get it. The television is even worse. But we can’t turn our backs on what’s happening in the world, can we?
Chan urrainn, gun teagamh. Ma chì thu rudeigin ceàrr, an tèid thu an aghaidh neo–ionannachd? We can’t, without a doubt. If you see something wrong, will you confront/oppose inequality?
‘S mi a thèid! Ach tha neo–ionannachd, ana–cheartas agus mì–riaghladh ri fhaicinn air gach taobh. I certainly will (confront/oppose)! But inequality, injustice and misgovernment can be seen all over the place (on all sides).
Bidh mo phàrantan daonnan a’ bòstadh mu chùisean san latha aca: buannachdan, dòchas is ionnanachd. Cha robh guth air eas–bhuannachdan, eu–dòchas no neo–ionannachd. My parents always boast about (how) things were in their day: advantages/benefits, hope and equality. There was no mention of disadvantages, hopelessness or inequality.
Ah, na boomers! Nach iad a bha a’ strì airson ceartas, laghan ùra a bheireadh co–ionnanachd agus còraichean dhan mhòr–shluagh! Ah, the boomers! Aren’t they the ones who fought for justice, new laws that would give equality and rights to the people (proletariat)!
Ach dè cho cothromach ‘s a tha an saoghal againn a–nis? But how fair is our world now?
Chan eil cothromachd ann! Chan eil sòisealtas co–ionnan againn san dùthaich seo, no ann an iomadh dùthaich eile. There’s no fairness/equality! We do not have an equal society in this country, nor in many other countries.
Bidh mise a’ dol an aghaidh neo–ionnanachd a h–uile seachdain. I oppose/confront inequality every week.
Ciamar a bhios tu a’ dèanamh sin? How do you do that?
Bidh mi ag obair gu saor–thoileach do charthannas ann am meadhan a’ bhaile–mhòir a bhios a’ toirt biadh, cùram agus furan dhan fheadhainn a tha gun dachaigh. I volunteer for a charity in the city centre that provides food, care and shelter to those who are homeless (the homeless).
