ANNDRA
A Sheumais, a bheil latha dheth agad a-màireach?
(Seumas, do you have a day off tomorrow?)
SEUMAS
Chan eil latha dheth agam a-màireach. Ach, bha latha dheth agam an-dè.
(I don’t have a day off tomorrow. But I had a day off yesterday.)
CATRÌONA
Dè rinn thu air do latha dheth?
(What did you do on your day off?)
SEUMAS
Bha mi a’ cluich còmhla ris a’ chloinn agam anns a’ mhadainn.
(I was playing with my children in the morning.)
CATRÌONA
Ahh! tha sin snog!
(Aww, that’s nice!)
SEUMAS
Agus bha mi a’ glanadh an làraidh agam feasgar.
(And I was cleaning my lorry in the afternoon.)
ANNDRA
Emma, dè bhios tusa a’ dèanamh nuair a bhios latha dheth agad?
(Emma, what do you do when you have a day off?)
EMMA
Bidh mi a’ gabhail fois. Bidh mi ag èisteachd ri ceòl còmhla ri mo mhàthair. ‘S toil leatha ceòl clasaigeach agus bidh sinn ag èisteachd còmhla.
(I relax. I listen to music with my mother. She likes classical music and we listen together.)
ANNDRA
Am bi thu a’ cluich spòrs?
(Do you play sport?)
EMMA
Cha bhi mi a’ cluich spòrs ach bidh mi a’ ruith. Uaireannan bidh mi a’ ruith air an latha dheth agam.
(I don’t play sport but I run. Sometimes I run on my day off.)
ANNDRA
Bha latha dheth agamsa Disathairne.
(I had a day off on Saturday.)
EMMA
Dè rinn thu air do latha dheth?
(What did you do on your day off?)
ANNDRA
Bha mi ag obair air a’ chroit agus bha mi a’ cumail sùil air na caoraich.
(I was working on the croft and I was keeping an eye on the sheep.)
EMMA
Am bi thu a’ cluich spòrs?
(Do you play sport?)
ANNDRA
Bidh mi a’ coiseachd anns a’ mhonadh. Tha sin glè spòrsail.
(I go hill walking. It’s really fun.)
CATRÌONA
Spòrsail? Bha mise a’ coiseachd anns a’ chafaidh fad na h-oidhche. Cha robh sin spòrsail.
(Fun? I was walking in the café all night. That wasn’t fun.)
EMMA
A bheil thu sgìth?
(Are you tired?)
CATRÌONA
Tha mi sgìth. Bha sinn cho trang anns a’ chafaidh.
(I am tired. We were so busy in the café.)
EMMA
Dè ni thu air do latha dheth?
(What will you do on your day off?)
CATRÌONA
Bidh mi a’ cadal!
(I’ll be sleeping!)
SEUMAS
Fad an latha?
(All day?)
CATRÌONA
Cha bhi! Anns a’ mhadainn, bidh mi a’ cadal. Feasgar, bidh mi a’ coinneachadh ri caraidean airson glainne fìon.
(No! In the morning, I’ll sleep. In the afternoon I’ll meet friends for a glass of wine.)
SEUMAS
’S toil leam feasgar dheth mar sin. Ach cha toil le clann feasgar dheth. Bidh sinn a’ dol air chuairt chun a’ chladaich le na coin.
(I like an afternoon off like that. But the children don’t like an afternoon off. We’ll go for a walk to the shore with the dogs.)
EMMA
Bhiodh feasgar mar sin cho math. Bidh mi ag aisling air latha dheth ann an Alba.
(An afternoon like that would be so good. I dream of a day off in Scotland.)
CATRÌONA
Bidh mise ag aisling air latha dheth air an tràigh anns na Hearadh.
(I dream of a day off on the beach in Harris.)
SEUMAS
Bidh Anndra ag aisling mun chroit aige.
(Andrew will be dreaming about his croft.)
ANNDRA
Agus bidh Seumas ag aisling mu làraidh ghlan!
(And Seumas will be dreaming about a clean lorry!)
