Thòisich cùis nan Seumasach ann an 1688, nuair a thàinig air an Rìgh Seumas VII & II falbh dhan Fhraing agus nuair a thàinig Rìgh Uilleam Orains na àite.
‘S e Caitligeach a bh’ ann an Seumas agus bha Pàrlamaid Shasainn agus Pàrlamaid na h–Alba ag iarraidh gum biodh Pròstanach air an rìgh–chathair.
Ach bha gu leòr Caitligich fhathast ann an Sasainn agus ann an Alba, gu sònraichte air Gàidhealtachd na h–Alba, gun luaidh air na bha ann ann an Èirinn!
Thòisich luchd–taice Sheumais aramach airson na Stiùbhartaich a chur air ais air rìgh–chathair na h–Alba agus Shasainn.
Thàinig a’ chiad iomairt sin gu crìch aig Blàr na Bòinne 1690 nuair a rinn Uilleam a’ chùis air Seumas.

Ciamar a chaidh dhut? How did you get on?
The Jacobite cause began in 1688, when James VII & II had to leave for France and when King William of Orange came in his place.
James was a Roman Catholic and the Parliament of England and the Parliament of Scotland wanted there to be a Protestant on the throne.
But there were plenty of Catholics still in England and in Scotland, especially in the Highlands of Scotland, not to mention those in Ireland.
The supporters of James began a rising to put the Stuarts back on the throne of Scotland and England.
That first attempt came to an end at the Battle of the Boyne when William was victorious over James.
