Tha e air a ghoirteachadh

He is hurt

We saw seantansan gnìomhach (active sentences) agus seantansan fulangach (passive sentences) with the structure air (on) and buadhairean sealbhach (possessive adjectives) at level A2 and again in B1 Cuspair 6.

Tha mi air mo shàrachadh leis an obair seo.FulangachI am frustrated with (weary of) this job.
Tha mi air a sàrachadh leis na ceistean agam.GnìomhachI’ve annoyed (/stressed her out, no eile…) her with my questions.
Bha iad air an nàireachadh leis na thuirt e.FulangachThey were embarrassed by what he said.
Bha iad air a nàireachadh leis na thuirt  iad.GnìomhachThey  had embarrassed him/her with what they said.

In a passive sentence, the riochdair (pronoun) and buadhair sealbhach (possessive adjective) must agree with each other.

The pronoun and possessive adjective do not have to agree with each other in an active sentence.

Air uairean bidh an riochdair agus am buadhair sealbhach ag aontachadh ann an seantans gnìomhach cuideachd, agus faodaidh sinn am facal fhèin (self) a chleachdadh gus soilleireachadh gu bheil a’ chiall gnìomhach seach fulangach:

Tha e air a ghoirteachadh.Fulangach / GnìomhachHe is hurt. / He has hurt him (another male).
Tha e air a ghoirteachadh fhèin.GnìomhachHe has hurt himself.

Tha mi air mo shàrachadh leis a’ chòmhradh seo mu dheidhinn ruith. (Fulangach)

I am frustrated/wearied with this talk about running.

Bidh mi air mo chlaoidheadh fhèin leis na h–eacarsaichean seo. (Gnìomhach)

I will have exhausted myself with these exercises.
