We saw how we use naisgearan (conjunctions) with regular verbs in Cuspair 1. We’ll look here at some new conjunctions and we’ll use them with regular verbs in the tràth caithte (past tense).
As we have often seen, there are two parts to each verb, an cruth neo–eisimeileach (the independent form) for ‘yes’–type answers or ‘positive statement’, and an cruth eisimeileach (the dependent form) for ‘no’–type answers and questions.
As with the questions Ciamar, Cuin(e), Cò, Carson which use the independent form, and Càit(e) which uses the dependent form, (the) conjunctions also use different forms. We can see below that nuair, ma and bhon go with the independent form, and mura, mus, far and gus are followed by the dependent form.
