There are plenty of jobs available in the Gaelic world, and advertisements are often seen on social media informing people of some kind of job opportunity.

Undoubtedly there is a great demand for Gaelic teachers, but it’s not only educational positions that are available.

There is no scarcity of opportunities in the media, with MG ALBA, BBC ALBA, BBC Radio nan Gàidheal and many small private companies often circulating job advertisements.

There are a great deal of opportunities to work as a language development officer, with community groups in the islands and in the cities in search of them.

Public organisations also look for development officers to highlight Gaelic in their work, or to put their language plans into effect.
Especially in the islands and parts of the Highlands, Gaelic is an advantage, and at times a necessary skill, for all kinds of jobs.

The health service—NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles—and care homes, (the) local authorities—Comhairle nan Eilean and Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd—and community organisations and trusts, all recognise that it is an advantage for an applicant to speak Gaelic when they employ people.

Because of tourist interest, there is also a need for Gaelic language skills in tourism businesses in the islands with more and more tourists wanting to see and hear the culture and language of the Gàidhealtachd/Highlands.
