Novels and novels
Nobhailean is uirsgeulan
Let's have a look at this discussion. By the end of this section, you will have learned some valuable phrases that you can use in lots of different conversations.

Ciamar a chaidh dhut aig an fhèis litearrachd, Anna?
How did you get on at the literacy festival, Anna?

Chaidh gu math aig an fhèis litreachais. Chòrd i rium gu mòr! Bha dà sheisean inntinneach ann: a' chiad fhear air eòlas bodhaige an leabhair …
The literature festival went well. I really liked it! There were two interesting sessions: the first on the anatomy of a book.

Eòlas bodhaige an leabhair?! Cò mu dheidhinn a bha siud?
The anatomy of a book?! What was that about?

'S ann mu dheidhinn nam prìomh eileamaidean a gheibhear ann an leabhar a bha e.
It was about the main elements found in a book.

Chan ann tric a bhios mi a' smaoineachadh air a leithid.
I don't often think about things like that.

'S ann do dh'fhoillsichearan ùra a bha e. Chan eil an aon bhriathrachas sa Ghàidhlig aig a h uile duine airson gach nì!
It was for new publishers. Not everyone has/uses the same vocabulary in Gaelic for everything!

'S tu fhèin a thuirt e. Chuala mise rosgrann agus seantans ceart gu leòr. Agus tha mi air paragraf fhaicinn ach uaireannan earrann airson sin.
You said it (yourself)! I've heard sentence (‘prose-verse’)? and sentence right enough. And I have seen paragraph, but sometimes paragraph/section for that (the same thing).

Sin e dìreach! Agus chithear ciall eile aig earrann uaireannan mar phìos no criomag de theacsa. Chuala mi nobhailean agus uirsgeulan cuideachd.
That's just it! And another meaning of/for passage/section can sometimes be seen as a piece or fragment of text. I've also heard novels and novels (legends).

Cha robh mi riamh soilleir mu dheidhinn facal tòisich an coimeas ri ro ràdh. Ach tha clàr innse co ionnan ri clàr amais, nach eil?
I was never clear about preface as opposed to introduction. But contents is the same as index, isn't it?

Chan eil! 'S e clàr innse a gheibhear aig toiseach leabhair ach 's e clàr amais a chithear aig deireadh leabhair, mar as trice.
No! It's a table of contents that can be found at the beginning of a book but it's an index that can be seen at the end of a book, usually.

'S e cànan eile—no saoghal eile—a th' ann!
It's another language—or another world!

Agus bha seisean eile ann a thog mi gu saoghal eile. Fuirich gus an cluinn thu seo …
And there was another session that transported (lifted) me to another world. Wait till you hear this …
