There were a few words and phrases there which you can use when talking about A’ leantainn reasabaidh (Following a recipe). Let’s look at some of them again in context.

Start with butter and sugar.

That measures fifty millilitres of milk.
Dòirt am bainne dhan phana seo.
Pour the milk into this pan.
An uair sin teasaich am bainne, ach na leig leis goil.
Then heat the milk but don’t let it boil.
Cha bhi sinn a’ teasachadh a’ bhainne nuair a bhios sinn a’ fuine!
We don’t heat the milk when we are baking!
Na teasaich am bainne ma–thà.
Don’t heat the milk then.
Measgaich am bainne a–steach agus buail sin gu math.
Mix the milk in and beat that well.
Measgaich am min–maoise agus a’ mhin–fhlùir a–steach …
Mix the cornflour and the flour in …
… a’ dèanamh cinnteach nach eil cnapan ann.
… making sure that there aren’t [any] lumps in it.
