We call the parts of Scotland north and west of the Highland Line A’ Ghàidhealtachd. Historically, these were the parts of Scotland where Gaelic would be spoken. The word Gàidhealtachd means, in Gaelic, Tìr nan Gàidheal (The land of the Gaels).
